Obituary for Walter J. Majsak

Walter Joseph Majsak, 86, of Plainville, husband of the late Anne (Garske) Majsak,
passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Apple Rehab of Farmington Valley, Plainville, CT.

Born in Plainville on February 21, 1926, Walt was the only child of the late Joseph and Anna (Sondej) Majsak.
A lifelong resident, he was a 1944 graduate of Plainville High School, where he excelled in athletics.
Tri-captain of the basketball, football, and track teams, he lettered as a freshman in track, and was inducted
into the Athletic Backers Club Hall of Fame in 1999. His love for sports continued as served as an official
for both high school and college football throughout the years. Upon graduation from the
College of Holy Cross in 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country for four years,
and was honorably discharged in 1952.

Walt and Anne were married in June 1953 and returned to Plainville where they raised their
five children, and Walt demonstrated his devotion to the Plainville community.
A member of the Democratic Town Committee since 1948,
he also served, on the Board of Education for 27 years, the Buildings and Grounds Committee,
and as a longtime member and Past President of the Rotary Club.
A lifelong member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, he also served as Chairman of the Parish Council,
and was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Gerald T. Corrigan Council of Plainville.
He was also a member of AARP Chapter #4146, and their former statewide People and Representative Specialist.
He was employed as a salesman for Torrington Plumbing and Heating, in Waterbury, CT, from where he
retired in 2002 after 20 years.

He is survived by his children, Joseph and Anne Majsak of White Plains, NY, Michael and Kathy Majsak
of New City, NY, Stephen Majsak and Terry Sukenik of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth and Mark Nunes of
Lynwood, WA, and James and Colleen Majsak of Plainville; his grandchildren, Caroline, David, Emily,
Chelsea, Tyler, Matthew, John, Austin, and Angela; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Funeral services for Mr. Majsak will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from
The Bailey Funeral Home

in Plainville to

Our Lady of Mercy Church
for a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in
St. Joseph Cemetery in Plainville.

Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
