Carmine 'Carl' Casciello, 99, of Plainville, passed away peacefully at the Jerome Home on Sunday, May 24, 2009.
Born in Plainville on January 17, 1910, Carmine was the last surviving of five children of the late Andrea and Elvira (Gnacco) Casciello. 

He was a longtime resident of Plainville, A member of Our Lady of Mercy Church,
and one of the founding members of the Knights of Columbus, Gerald T. Corrigan Council. 

He enjoyed many years in the restaurant industry, starting when he worked with his father, who opened the Colonial Tavern in Plainville in 1935. 
He also worked at the former Peterson’s Restaurant in Plainville and the Buckboard Restaurant in Farmington.
He bought the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Plainville in 1948 and operated it for 22 years. 

An avid bowler, he played on local leagues and was a proud team sponsor. After retiring he enjoyed his 2nd home “The Country” in Sandisfield ,MA.

He leaves many nieces and nephews, including Marie and her husband, Ray Dube of Clearwater Beach ,FL., Elaine Lanza of Clearwater Beach, FL.,

Louis Casciello and his wife Mary of Massachusetts, and Linda and her husband, Jim Coveney of Plainville; and great-nieces and nephews,
and his dear friend Nathalie Walker of New Hampshire. 

He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Louis, and Anthony Casciello, and his sister, Grace Lanza.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery
Family and friends may gather before the Mass, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville.

In lieu of flowers, Carmine may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry P.O. Box 233, Plainville, CT 06062.
