A Father's Love
Written by Glen Dahlstrom

A Father holds you when you have a bad dream,
and they comfort you when all is lost or so it seems.

Father's take you on carousel rides and splash you in the rains,
they scoop up your sorrows and teach you that love always remains.

A Father cherishes the running footsteps down the hall, the knocking at the door,
The joys of childhood laughter and realize that is what he sacrifices for.

Father's teach to dribble a basketball or shoot a free throw
and teach you to grow.

Father's teach you to drive a car
and try to teach you to putt for par.

Father's wipe the tears of your broken heart,
and they hold your hand when you don't know where to start.

Father's carry you on their shoulders when you are too small to see,
and they watch you giggle when they bounce you on their knee.

Father's teach you how to dance,
and always give you a second chance.

Father's wait in the wings as you start your new life,
and they prey for you to make a good husband or wife.

Father's stand beside you on your wedding day,
but they never really give you away.

And like our heavenly Father, he is our protector and guide,
someone we can always count on to be by our side.
