Obituary for Thomas A. Catucci

Thomas A. Catucci died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family
on May 11th after a brief illness. He was 87.

Tom was born in Plainville on Nov. 3, 1924, where he lived until his death.
He loved Plainville, a town where he grew up and attended local schools.
He was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Tom was the proud owner of Plainville Radio and TV and was in business for over 35 years.
If you came in on a Saturday, the store would be full of family and friends who stopped by for coffee and to have a few laughs.
He was a gentle and lighthearted man with a great sense of humor. His children recall their father driving by the “pick your own”
strawberry farm near their home and laughing as he would blow the horn and watch all the people look up thinking it was
meant for them. Tom was a lifelong NY Giants fan and enjoyed their recent super Bowl success.
He also loved watching Yankee games with his wife Julie.

An avid golfer, he was a past president of the men’s club at Tunxis Plantation Country Club in Farmington
where he once recorded a hole in one. Tom loved to watch his grandson Max play golf and would always marvel
at how far he could hit it. He loved kidding around with his great-grandchildren, Zachary and Madison who were a
constant form of amusement for him. From a very young age, Tom enjoyed fishing. He finally landed that 30 pound
striped bass and once on a trip to Florida, caught a 7 foot sailfish that hangs over the family fireplace to this day.
There was always music playing in the Catucci home as he was very much a music lover and enjoyed listening
to the Big Bands with his daughter.

Tom was a proud US Navy Veteran in WWII and spent two and a half years fighting in the Pacific theater
for a country that he dearly loved. He spent those years as an airplane mechanic, mostly in remote places
including New Guinea, Borneo and the Admiralty Islands.
He leaves the love of his life and wife of 67 years Juliet (Rosati) Catucci, a son Peter Catucci and wife Susan,
a daughter Donna Catucci, two grandchildren Max Catucci and Stacey White and husband John,
two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Madison White and a sister Helen Lepore.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Lena (Santy) Catucci,
a brother, Robert Catucci and a sister, Rita Mikulak

The family will hold a private service.
